While coverage available from the 52 state guaranty associations (including the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico) differs from state to state, basic limits of protection set by most states are as follows:

Life insurance:

o Death benefit: $300,000

o Cash surrender or withdrawal value: $100,000

Annuities:

o Withdrawal or cash value: $100,000

Health insurance:

o Benefits: $100,000

Some states have set higher benefit caps; more information on these is available at each state guaranty association’s Web site. A listing of all of these is available at www.nolhga.com.
