Bob Fragasso, president of Fragasso Financial Advisors in Pittsburgh, says the LPL Financial-affiliated firm is offering some services for free to local professionals who have lost their jobs.

“We are process-driven, geared up and are ready for this new project,” explains Fragasso. “We’ve already had some inquiries though this is so new, and we’re arranging appointments for those calling to meet with our people.”

This pro-bono work includes developing a strategy to handle severance packages and stock options, planning for insurance needs, protecting their retirement funds, debt management and consolidation and leveraging the equity in their home.

“As a company, we’re committed to our clients, our employees and the strength of this region” added Mr. Fragasso, “and utilizing our resources to help those in need — well, that is something that we want to do”.

Fragasso Financial Advisors is a fee-based financial planning and wealth management firm with 30 staff members, $670 million in assets under management and 1,500-plus household, corporation and retirement-plan clients.

The firm has historically done a lot of charity work in the area, he says. “This project’s mission is to focus on people with hope for future success in their careers.”

Fragasso also shares his financial-planning experience with local groups and with a national organization by teaching, he says.

Earlier this year, the firm sponsored a financial-planning content for local college students. It then hired winner Damien Gottschalk to work in the firm’s portfolio management department.
