Ebix Inc. has acquired Facts Services Inc.

Ebix, Atlanta, may be best known in the life and health insurance communities as the parent of the AnnuityNet system.

Facts Services, Coral Gables, Fla., sells systems that help insurers and other payers process health claims, workers’ compensation claims and other types of claims.

Ebix paid $6.5 million in cash for Facts Services, Ebix says.

Ebix plans to combine Facts Services with a Pittsburgh-based division under the EbixHealth name.

In other health insurance technology news:

- TriZetto Group Inc., Newport Beach, Calif., and HealthConnect Systems Inc., Norwalk, Conn., will be connecting their products.

The companies will be integrating TriZetto’s Facets and QNXT enterprise administration systems with HealthConnect’s health insurance broker portal and sales automation systems.

- Transcend Technologies Group Inc., Sacramento, Calif., will be giving its Web-based benefitsCONNECT enrollment and administration system with the plane.biz enrollment program developed by Unum Group Corp., Chattanooga, Tenn.

The update means benefitsCONNECT users will be able to enroll employees in Unum insurance plans from inside the benefitsCONNECT system.
