An ancillary benefits company will be marketing more products underwritten by a Midwestern carrier.

AlwaysCare Benefits, a unit of Starmount Life Insurance Company, Baton Rouge, La., says it will be marketing voluntary life and voluntary short-term disability plans underwritten by National Guardian Life Insurance Company, Madison, Wis.

The new products are designed for employers with fewer than 50 employees.

In 2008, AlwaysCare began marketing traditional, employer-paid group life, short-term disability and long-term disability products from National Guardian.

AlwaysCare is selling the voluntary life and voluntary STD plans in Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Georgia, Indiana, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Wisconsin.

AlwaysCare also is marketing the voluntary STD plans in Illinois and Texas, and it is in the process of introducing the voluntary life and STD products in other states.
