Neil Parmenter died Sunday, according to the Society of Actuaries.

Parmenter was president of the SOA, Schaumburg, Ill., during the 2003-2004 term, and he later was vice chair of the SOA’s nominating committee.

Parmenter worked as an actuary in the life insurance operations of Principal Financial Group Inc., Des Moines, Iowa, for 38 years, the SOA says. He retired from his position at Principal in 2000.
