A division of the Georgia Department of Human Resources is working with a private firm to help employers set up wellness programs.
The department’s Division of Public Health has hired Longitude Health Inc., Somerset, N.J., to manage the MyHealthVillage campaign.
The initial goal will be to improve employees’ cardiovascular health, by going after conditions such as obesity, diabetes and existing cardiovascular disease.
Eligible employers can join the program for free.
Once an employer joins up, MyHealthVillage services will be free both to employees and to employees’ spouses.
Longitude Health will supply Web-based or paper-based screening questionnaires and onsite health screening tests.
Employees will get one-to-one guidance on understanding the questionnaire results and strategies for coping with risk factors, Public Health Division officials say.
The MyHealthVillage program Web site will try to maximize worker participation and compliance rates by offering an incentive program.
