A team at the National Association of Insurance Commissioners is plowing ahead with efforts to revise the Medicare Supplement Compliance Manual.

The Accident and Health Working Group, an arm of the Life and Health Actuarial Task Force at the NAIC, Kansas City, Mo., will hold a conference call April 13.

Working group members are likely to review a compliance manual working draft that was posted on the NAIC’s Web site Wednesday.

An official “exposure draft” was posted in November 2008.

The draft is aimed mainly at state regulators, not at Medigap insurance issuers, according to the authors of the manual introduction.

In the latest draft, the authors note that the revisions reflect recent changes made by the federal Medicare Improvement for Patients and Providers Act of 2008.

Links to conference call materials, including copies of the exposure draft, the working draft and comment letters from representatives from the American Academy of Actuaries, Washington, and America’s Health Insurance Plans, Washington, are available here.
