A company that controls patents says a health insurer has agreed to a settlement in connection with the technology it uses to communicate with customers.

A unit of Ronald A. Katz Technology Licensing L.P., New York, has negotiated the settlement agreement with Humana Inc., Louisville, Ky.

Humana will be paying an undisclosed fee for nonexclusive rights to Katz interactive voice response technology used to provide customer service through automated systems and live agents, Katz says.

Humana uses the technology in its customer service call centers, the company says.
