A West Coast financial services firm is combining with a sister company.

Transamerica Financial Advisors Inc., Los Angeles, has applied for permission from regulators to merge with an affiliate, InterSecurities Inc., St. Petersburg, Fla.

Both companies are part of AEGON N.V., The Hague, Netherlands.

The combined entity will keep the Transamerica Financial name and continue to be a full-service, independent broker-dealer, Transamerica Financial says.

Transamerica Financial will emerge with about 1,800 registered representatives and $15 billion in client accounts, the company says.

The headquarters of the entity will be in St. Petersburg.

Seth Miller, a Transamerica Financial executive, will oversee the consolidation process.
