A Michigan insurer is offering employers an individual dental insurance product designed for retirees.

The product, the Renaissance Dental Extend for Retirees plan, is available in all 50 states and offers retirees full dental coverage on a self-paid basis, according to Renaissance Life and Health Insurance Company of America, Okemos, Mich.

An employer can use the product to provide value-added insurance or provide coverage not available under a Medicare Advantage plan, Renaissance Life says.

An employer that offers the plan does not have to buy a group contract, administer the coverage or pay any of the premiums.

Insureds get access to a national preferred provider network along with an option to visit any licensed dentist. The plan also includes a discount card that provides discounts on hearing care and prescription medications as well as on vision care.
