A health insurer has released its 2009 annual dividend rate on common stock, and a life insurer has discussed the amount it will pay to participating insurance policyholders.

The board of CIGNA Corp., Philadelphia, says the company will maintain its annual dividend rate on common stock at 4 cents per share. The company will pay the dividend April 10 to shareholders who own its stock March 11.

MetLife Inc., New York, says its life insurance subsidiaries will pay $1.6 billion in policy dividends in 2009 to eligible holders of whole life policies and some term life policies.

The company announced in December 2007 that it would be making $1.7 billion in policy dividend payments to eligible life policyholders in 2008.
