Letter to the editor: More about inflation protection

Dennis H. Lentin writes – Just reading last month’s letter to the editor about 50-50 blame proves my point. Ignoring inflation protection is wrong and should not be allowed. (See Letter to the editor: 50-50 fault, by Tony Dillard, who is commenting on Lentin’s letter, The danger of LTC group policies, LTC e-Wire, September 2008. Also see October 2008 LTC e-Wire, Letter: Inflation option is costly, by Margie Emch.)

When an agent, company or independent writes anf LTC policy that probably would never be in force when it is needed or may keep a person from getting Medicaid, it is just wrong. It shows what this country has gone to. It is all about greed. This type of thinking has put us where we are today. Let all agents ask this question when they write a policy: Would this work for me? If not, don’t write it.

As for the agents who just grab whatever business they can, how is the economy working for you now? The insurance companies who allow this to happen don’t deserve to be bailed out.

The last time I answered an article on the same subject, I received a reply on how a particular agent from Ohio did group plans. They touted a company that now has some serious charges levied against it from the State of California and a plan that was just un-ethical. I hope that agent learns what long term care is all about.
