Disability RMS has designed two new types of disability insurance products.
Disability RMS, Westbrook, Maine, a unit of Assurant Inc., New York, says one product would fill the gap between when a worker qualifies for sick leave and short-term disability benefits and when the worker qualifies for Social Security Disability Insurance benefits.
The other product would be a low-cost alternative to traditional long-term disability insurance.
The LTD alternative product would protect workers against the risk of suffering certain “clearly defined and commonly disabling conditions,” Disability RMS says.
