Members of the Senate voted 66-32 tonight to pass H.R. 2, the Children’s Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act of 2009.

All Democrats who voted supported the bill, and 9 Republicans crossed party lines to vote for it.

House members voted for the bill 289 – 139 Jan. 14.

President Obama supports the bill.

The list of interest groups that have lobbied for passage includes America’s Health Insurance Plans, Washington.

The bill would authorize the expenditure of $32 billion over the next 4 years on the State Children’s Health Insurance Program. Supporters say it would increase total SCHIP enrollment to 11 million, from 7 million today.
