A worksite benefits company has introduced a new collection of products aimed at employers that are not offering workers major medical insurance.

Colonial Life & Accident Insurance Company, Columbia, S.C., a unit of Unum Group Corp., Chattanooga, Tenn., is selling Standard, Standard Plus, Enhanced and Premier versions of the Colonial Health Advantage program.

The products offer better benefits for doctor’s office visits and preventive care than older Colonial Life limited-benefit medical products did, Colonial Life says.

In some cases, groups with as few as 3 employees enrolling in the plan can qualify for coverage.

Minimum group sizes vary depending on the number of eligible employees in the account, whether the pre-existing condition exclusion is waived, and whether the employer is paying the premiums, Colonial Life says.

Rates for employee-paid coverage start at less than $50 per employee per month, Colonial Life says.
