Workers who have employer-sponsored dental benefits are more likely to see their dentists for checkups than other workers are.

Researchers at the Delta Dental Plans Association, Oak Brook, Ill., have reported that finding in a summary of results from a survey of 900 U.S. residents ages 25 and older.

About 60% of the participants said they have dental benefits, with 12% of those participants paying for voluntary benefits at the worksite and 88% belonging to traditional, employer-paid group dental plains.

About 83% of the participants enrolled in employers’ dental plans said they visit the dentist at least twice per year, according to Delta Dental.

Only 63% of the participants who pay out of pocket for dental benefits or care see dentists that often, Delta Dental reports.
