Assurant Employee Benefits will make the waiting periods for the Freedom Preferred voluntary dental plan easier to adjust.

Assurant Employee Benefits, Kansas City, Mo., a unit of Assurant Inc., New York, says employer groups with plan participation levels of 50% now can offer 0-month or 6-month timely waiting periods for both basic and major dental services as well as the old 12-month and 24-month waiting period options.

The option to eliminate or shorten waiting periods applies to employees who enroll during the initial open enrollment or in some other timely fashion.

There is no waiting period in the plans for preventive services.
