Self-insured health plan groups, large brokers, property-casualty insurers and others have formed the Medicare Advocacy Recovery Coalition.

MARC, Washington, will promote changes in Medicare secondary payer rules, organizers say.

The rules govern when Medicare must pay a claim, and when a liability insurer, a workers’ compensation plan, an individual’s own private health coverage or another payer must pay a claim

MARC organizers have picked Roy Franco, a supermarket company risk manager, and Katie Fox of MedInsights Inc., Nashville, Tenn., a company that manages care delivered through workers’ comp programs, to be the co-chairs of the coalition.
