The majority of Americans expect major health care reform legislation to pass during President-elect Barack Obama’s first term as president.
About 75% of the 1,000 U.S. consumers surveyed and 79% of the 800 U.S. health care executives surveyed believe Obama will introduce health care system restructuring legislation after he takes office, according to researchers at the National Association of Children’s Hospitals and Related Institutions, Washington, and PricewaterhouseCoopers L.L.P., New York.
The researchers found that 57% of the consumer survey participants fear they will not be able to afford health insurance, and 52% are afraid they will not be able to afford to seek medical attention when they need it.
