A fast-growing heath insurer is adopting technology that could help ease the process of selling products through the Web, without reliance on paper forms and snail mail to get coverage in place.
The Companion Life Insurance Company and Standard Security Life Insurance Company of New York units of Independence Holding Company, Stamford, Conn., have agreed to use EPI-III electronic approval technology from eHealth Inc., Mountain View, Calif., the parent of eHealthInsuranceServices Inc.
Companion Life will use the technology to sell paperless individual and family health coverage in 6 states, and Standard Security will use the technology to sell paperless short-term health insurance in 45 states, eHealth says.
