Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company is expanding its Taft-Hartley operation and showing its commitment to unions by using union labor for a major construction project.

MassMutual, Springfield, Mass., has promoted Kenneth Pouch to national practice leader for the Taft-Hartley union plan business development team.

Pouch previously was a Taft-Hartley plan relationship manager.

MassMutual also has hired Joseph Carmignani and John Dolan Jr. to be Taft-Hartley relationship managers.

Carmignani previously was a communications consultant at Fidelity Investments, Boston.

Dolan was a relationship manager at Prudential Financial Inc., Newark, N.J.

MassMutual says it expects to hire more Taft-Hartley sales reps for the Eastern region.

MassMutual also has added 7 Taft-Hartley plan investment options, including a “green” growth fund.

Meanwhile, MassMutual says its MassMutual Financial Group subsidiary and two other partner companies will go ahead with a 10-year, $2 billion waterfront development effort in Boston.

Project organizers have agreed to use 100% union labor, MassMutual says.
