About 60% of employers and financial services organizations with captive insurers use the facilities or have considered using the facilities to fund employee benefits.
Spring Consulting Group L.L.C., Boston, has published that finding in a summary of results of a survey of “best practices” at players in the captive insurer market.
Only 45% of the survey participants are using benchmarks to manage operations.
About 31% look at reserves to surplus benchmarks, and 32% look at premium to surplus benchmarks, Spring reports.
