The U.S. Government Accountability Office is trying to get the incoming Obama administration and the new 111th Congress to address what it believes to be critical issues.

Acting Comptroller General Gene Dodaro, the head of the GAO, says the GAO developed the list to help make the transition an “informed and smooth one across the federal government.”

Some issues on the list of concern to insurers include financial institutions oversight, the 2010 Census and preparations for large-scale health emergencies.

GAO officials note that the transition Web site also will include sections on the country’s long-term fiscal outlook.
