UL Policy Comes With Acceleration Option

Units of Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. are selling an unusual benefits acceleration rider along with the new Bicentennial Freedom UL and Bicentennial Joint Freedom UL universal life policies.

The LifeAccess Accelerated Death Benefit rider pays benefits if a purchaser develops a serious chronic illness, according to Hartford Financial, Hartford.

Hartford Life and Annuity Insurance Company will be selling the underlying UL policies and rider outside New York, and Hartford Life Insurance Company will be selling the policies and rider in New York.

The Bicentennial UL Freedom policy is a flexible-premium UL policy that is designed for insureds ages 45 to 70, Hartford Financial says.

The joint version of the policy can cover 2 individuals and pays benefits when both insureds die. That policy is designed for insureds ages 55 to 80, Hartford Financial says.

Hartford Life and Annuity and Hartford Life are responsible for backing the product guarantees.
