This article on the current state of the advisory profession, and its insights into the best practices of the most successful firms, is based on research from Rydex AdvisorBenchmarking, a free practice management program designed to help registered investment advisors (RIAs) better manage and grow their businesses. More than 1,000 advisory firms provided data for this year’s study, which was administered via online and telephone surveys from February 2008 through May 2008. In addition to revealing current market conditions, AdvisorBenchmarking shows the progression and changing trends in the RIA marketplace since the program began collecting data in 1999.
