A unit of State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company has agreed to continue to distribute individual health insurance from Assurant Health through State Farm agents.
The unit of State Farm, Bloomington, Ill., and Assurant Health, Milwaukee, a unit of Assurant Inc., New York, originally joined forces in 2000.
The new agreement is for 10 years, with an option for either company to walk out on the deal after 5 years.
The new agreement also includes a marketing program to expand sales opportunities for State Farm’s 17,000 agents and their licensed staffers, according to State Farm and Assurant Health.
