Guardian Life Insurance Company of America has hired a soccer star to encourage workers to think about their benefits.

Guardian, New York, has signed Mia Hamm, a National Soccer Hall of Fame member who helped the U.S. women’s soccer teams win gold medals in the 1996 and 2004 Olympics.

Guardian has produced a video that features Hamm and offers tips about how workers can go about making wise benefits choices.

Guardian notes that one survey it conducted found that typical U.S. workers spend an average of 4.9 hours per year on holiday shopping but only 1.4 hours on reviewing their benefits.
