A unit of UnitedHealth Group Inc. has started a health benefits program aimed at Hispanics.

UnitedHealthcare, Minnetonka, Minn., says its new PlanBien program aims at improving the health and well being of Hispanics and their families and dependents with a Spanish-language plan that combines health benefit plans with fitness-enhancing services.

PlanBien will provide information and customer services adapted to the health care needs of Latinos, UnitedHealthcare says. Among services offered: a bilingual directory of medical offices with Spanish-speaking doctors or staff; Spanish-speaking customer service representatives to answer questions and help plan participants locate Spanish-speaking doctors; and Spanish-language educational materials.

PlanBien is available to small and medium-sized businesses, labor organizations and public-sector entities in selected markets in Florida and Texas and also will soon be available in California, UnitedHealthcare says.
