John Hancock is trying to get parents interested in 529 college savings funds by entertaining the parents’ children.

Hancock, Boston, a unit of Manulife Financial Corp., Toronto, says the new “Road To College” board game should appeal to children ages 5 to 10.

Agents and brokers can leave the game with parents and use the game to start conversations about how the parents will pay for the children to go to college, Hancock says.
