Phoenix Investment Partners will become Virtus Investment Partners Inc. when it separates from Phoenix Companies Inc.

Phoenix, Hartford, wants to give Phoenix Investment Partners to shareholders because of some shareholders’ belief that a spin-off will increase the combined value of Phoenix and Phoenix Investment Partners.

Phoenix Investment Partners now manages about $33 billion in assets.

“Virtus is Latin and connotes the characteristics of integrity, quality and strength,” Phoenix says.

The company’s new logo, which shows the name “Virtus” rising above a curved line over the words “Investment Partners,” “represents the ever-changing investment horizon of clients,” Phoenix says.
