Employee benefits brokers accounted for 44% of worksite sales in 2007, down from 46% in 2006.

Researchers from Eastbridge Consulting Group Inc., Avon, Conn., have published the 2007 figures in the latest Eastbridge U.S. worksite sales report.

Although benefits brokers led in terms of share, comparisons with the 2006 study figures show that career agents increased their share of the market to 34%, from 29%, while classic worksite brokers saw their share edge lower, to 11%, from 12%.

Worksite specialists’ share held steady at 8%, and occasional producers’ share fell to 3%, from 6%.

Worksite sales totaled about $5 billion in 2007, according to the Eastbridge researchers.
