Aetna Inc., Hartford, is targeting a new individual health care insurance plan to young adults.

Noting that adults aged 18 to 34 are the least likely group to be insured, Aetna will begin selling its new BodyGuard Plans to such individuals on Aug. 1, with rates starting at only $40 per month.

The company is offering BodyGuard in 3 price levels. The plans initially will be offered in Illinois and expanded to additional states in the future, Aetna says.

Advertising and promotions for BodyGuard will include the backing of the Chicago Sport & Social Club, a networking organization with more than 70,000 participants in the Chicago area, the company announced.

In addition to the health insurance plans, individuals also will have the option of adding a dental plan for $14 a month, Aetna says.
