Researchers at the Massachusetts of Institute of Technology have come up with evidence supporting insurers’ belief that women worry more about retirement than men do.
Researchers at the MIT AgeLab and Hartford Financial Group Inc., Hartford, have published the evidence in a summary of results from a recent survey of 1,194 U.S. retirees and pre-retirees ages 45 to 74.
The researchers found that 83% of the women, but only 69% of the men, who participated in the survey are very or somewhat concerned about the effects of inflation on their retirement income.
Longevity was a major concern for 64% of the female participants and only 46% of the male participants.
