GAO Sends LTC Report To Grassley

The U.S. Government Accountability Office has completed its review of the long term care insurance industry’s claims-handling practices.

For the time being, however, the GAO is not releasing its report on its findings, at the request of Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, who had requested the study.

Grassley, the senior Republican on the Senate Finance Committee, asked the GAO to investigate in September after a New York Times report charged that some LTC carriers may have rejected or delayed legitimate claims unfairly.
