Golden Rule Insurance Company has started selling new individual dental insurance products in Alabama and Ohio.

The plans are available to consumers of all ages, including Medicare recipients and children who are not dependents of adult Golden Rule insureds, according to Golden Rule, Indianapolis, a unit of UnitedHealth Group Inc., Minnetonka, Minn.

Golden Rule will guarantee issue to applicants who meet residency requirements and have no other dental insurance.

Applicants do not have to have other types of Golden Rule insurance to buy Golden Rule dental coverage, the company says.

The products include a Dental Premier plan and a Dental Value Plan. The premier plan offers access to a larger provider network.

The plan covers preventive care at 100%, with no deductible and no waiting period.

The plan also covers basic services. Basic services include routine extractions and simple fillings, Golden Rule says.
