A charity affiliated with a life insurer is giving $3 million to an organization that helps children who have faced the death of a parent or sibling.

The New York Life Foundation, New York, is making the grant to Comfort Zone Camp, Richmond, Va.

The 3-year New York Life grant will help the organization increase the number of sites to 5, from 3, and increase the number of children the camps serve by 2,400, the foundation says.

Each camp serves about 60 children, ages 7 to 18.

Comfort Zone Camp also will be using the New York Life Foundation grant to add services for children who cannot attend the camps, the organization says.

In addition to the New York Life Foundation, the list of major Comfort Zone Camp backers includes the Million Dollar Round Table Foundation, Park Ridge, Ill.
