Humana Inc. and Genesis Employee Benefits Inc. are teaming up to help government agencies and unions fund retiree health benefits.

Humana, Louisville, Ky., and Genesis, Minneapolis, which does business as America’s VEBA Solution, will be using voluntary employee beneficiary association plans and other types of trusts to cope with public employers’ “other post employee benefits” liabilities.

The VEBAs will use Humana’s Medicare Advantage plans to hold down costs, the companies say.
