The U.S. arm of a large financial services companies is trying to reach out to consumers and others through YouTube.

ING U.S. Insurance, Windsor, Conn., a unit of ING Groep N.V., Amsterdam, has posted the video "ING: Orange Goes Green" in the education section at the YouTube Web site.

The video features Catherine Smith, chief executive of ING's U.S. insurance business, and other managers talking about efforts to cut down on use of energy, recycle paper, give employees opportunities to recycle items such as light bulbs and batteries, and contribute to windmill farms and other efforts to cope with concerns about global warming.

"What if large companies took responsibility for environmental stewardship and made it part of their fundamental business strategy?" Smith asks in the video.
