A Southwestern company is setting up a medical price Web site aimed mainly at consumers who are uninsured or underinsured.

Ternian Insurance Group L.L.C., Phoenix, will be posting the site at Document Link

The site will use a “5 pill” system for illustrating the costs that specific physicians in an area charge for specific procedures.

Ternian will use a combination of claims repricing data and data submitted by physicians to provide the price information, the company systems.

In many cases, consumers will be able to get an estimate of the cost of care available through physicians who participate in a preferred provider network affiliated with Ternian, Ternian says.

Consumers also can use the system to submit patient satisfaction reviews and find information about hospital quality ratings, the company says.

Ternian will be selling the service through health plans and directly to individuals.

Employers can offer the service to employees for about $8 per employee per month, Ternian says.
