Unum Reports On 2007 Group LTC Results

Unum Group Corp. sold group long term care insurance policies to 1,186 new groups in 2007 and added about 83,000 group LTC plan participants.

Total in-force group LTC policies now cover more than 7,000 groups and 653,000 people, according to Unum, Chattanooga, Tenn.

The company received about $28 million in annualized premiums from new group LTC plans, and about $220 million in annualized premiums for all group LTC coverage.

The percentage of group LTC business that is all or mostly employer funded increased to 90% in 2007, from 50% 5 years ago, Unum says.
