A health insurance provider is helping plan members use their cellular telephones and other hand-held devices to locate doctors and hospitals.
WellPoint Inc., Indianapolis, has introduced a mobile provider finder system formatted for use on hand-held devices.
The company is starting by making the system available in Connecticut, Maine and New Hampshire.
Members can search for providers by address, ZIP code, city or state.
Members also can search using criteria such as physician specialties and languages spoken.
The directory can give users driving directions to the listed offices and hospitals.
