An insurer is giving small groups more ancillary benefits choices.

Guardian Life Insurance Company of America, New York, says small businesses with 2 to 9 employees who use the company’s Dental Guard Basic and Basic Plus plans now can mix and match the level of coverage for procedures such as root canals, crowns, bridges, extractions, and dentures.

Guardian also has increased the range of lifetime deductibles, allowed employers to offer optional coverage for posterior composites and in-network only plans, and eased participation requirements, the company says.

For employers with 5 to 9 employees, Guardian has added more coverage limits on orthodontia work and eliminated the 12-month deferment requirement for “major work” and periodontal work.
