Symetra Life Insurance Company has started selling a group indemnity health insurance policy in Washington state.

The Select Benefits limited benefits policy makes fixed payments to insureds who visit the doctor, buy prescription drugs or use urgent care, according to Symetra, Bellevue, Wash.

Washington state just recently adopted a law that permits insurers to offer fixed-payment policies, Symetra says.

Symetra is charging a universal rate for the Select Benefit coverage and imposing no preexisting condition limits.
