A Tar Heel state insurance regulator says he will not run for reelection.

Jim Long, 67, who has been serving as the elected insurance commissioner in North Carolina since 1985, says he has not filed to run for reelection, according to North Carolina press reports.

Long told North Carolina’s Triangle Business Journal that he will not go to work as a lobbyist for the insurance industry.

Two Democrats and one Republican have filed to run for the commissioner’s post.
