Representatives from insurers, health systems, unions, employers and religious institutions are teaming up to help residents of their state who lack health insurance.

The organizers have formed the Michigan Cover The Uninsured Network, Detroit.

The goal of the MCTUN is to find ways to make affordable health coverage to the 160,000 Michigan children and 1.2 million Michigan adults who have none.

The network will serve as an advocate for the uninsured, and it will give uninsured people information about how to enroll in the health coverage programs that do exist, organizers say.

The founding members include Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, Detroit.
