The National Institute of Pension Administrators and the American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries have joined to create the American Institute for Retirement Education.

AIRE will compete for a chance to administer a new Enrolled Retirement Plan Agent designation program now under development by the Internal Revenue Service, according to NIPA, Chicago.

The program will permit enrolled practitioners to work with the IRS on some retirement plan matters, NIPA says.

The IRS plans to farm out administration and delivery of the ERPA designation exam program and is preparing to issue a request for proposals.

NIPA and ASPPA, Arlington, Va., will be submitting a response on behalf of AIRE, NIPA says.
