A life insurer is reaching out to women executives through their putters.

A unit of MetLife Inc., New York, has agreed to be the premier sponsor for the LPGA Golf Clinics for Women program.

JBC Inc., Cambridge, Mass., a company founded by Jane Blalock, runs the program with the use of a license from the Ladies Professional Golf Association, Daytona Beach, Fla.

MetLife has signed a 3-year deal that will start with the 2008 clinic series, the company says.

JBC will hold clinics in 15 markets this year, MetLife says.

The amount MetLife is paying for the sponsorship was not immediately available, but MetLife and JBC note that proceeds from clinic merchandise sales and a silent auction at each clinic will be donated to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Dallas, a charity that fights breast cancer.
