Delaware Insurance Commissioner Matt Denn has included several health insurance initiatives in his 2008 legislative agenda.

One proposed bill, Senate Bill 58, would allow the Delaware Department of Insurance to regulate medical discount programs, Denn says.

Some of the other agenda items include S.B. 6, which would create a statewide health insurance purchasing pool; S.B. 37, which would allow the insurance department to regulate health insurance rates; and House Bill 267, which would allow disabled Delaware residents to buy Medicare supplement insurance.

Denn also is seeking the authority to use school lunch subsidy data to locate children who might need help from the State Children’s Health Insurance Program.
