The New York health and insurance departments have hired the Urban Institute to help develop a strategic plan for achieving universal health insurance, officials say.
The Urban Institute, Washington, will consider both public and private mechanisms for achieving universal coverage, officials say.
The institute is one of eight organizations that responded to a New York Health Department request for proposals for the universal health strategy project, officials say.
