The Financial Planning Association announced that Richard Salmen of GTrust Financial Partners in Overland Park, Kansas, is the president-elect of the 29,000-member planners' association for 2008. Mark Johannessen becomes president, while Nick Nicolette becomes chair of the group.

New York Life Investment Management appointed David Bedard as senior managing director and CFO. NYLIM has more than $245 billion in assets under management.

James Clements has joined National Planning Holdings, Inc. as senior VP of advisory services. He will be responsible for the investment advisory service divisions of each of the four firms in the network and oversee the expansion of NPH's advisory platform. He joins NPH following seven years with Park Avenue Securities LLC.

Mutual Service Corporation appointed J. Andrew Kalbaugh to the position of CEO and George Fekete to the position of senior VP and director of branch development. Kalbaugh has served as president, CEO, and chairman of American General Securities for the past five years and also served as a director of the AIG Advisor Group. Fekete joins from LPL Financial Services, the parent company of MSC, where he served as VP of recruiting for the Southeast Region for the past eight years.

Citigroup has appointed Jeffrey Applegate as CIO for Citi Global Wealth Management, which comprises Citi Smith Barney, Citi Private Bank, and Citi Investment Research. Most recently, Applegate was with Franklin Templeton where he was CIO.
